Prevention

Some tips to avoid infection of malware:

Downloading with P2P programs
Pay attention to what you download with a P2P program. These programs often bring malware along.

Software
Do not use illegal methods (cracks, illegal serials, keygens, patches ...) to crack paying programs.
These programs are almost always accompanied with malware.

Windows Update
Keep Windows up-to-date. Malware often comes in through security holes. Let Windows
update automatically.

Programs update.
Be sure all programs on your computer are up-to-date. Old versions of Java and Adobe Flash Player contains often security holes.
A good program to keep all these programs up-to-date, is Secunia Online Software Inspector.

Antivirus Software
Be sure to always have an antivirus program. Make sure it is always updated!
Good free anti-virus scanners are: avast!, Microsoft Security Essentials, Avira Antivir and AVG Free.
It is recommended to only use one antivirus on your computer. Otherwise, they would conflict with each other.
Your system would be unnecessarily overloaded.

Firewall
Windows XP: It's better to download and use a free firewall from internet. A good, free firewall is ZoneAlarm.
Windows Vista & 7: You can use the integrated firewall in Windows.
