Pay attention to what you download with a P2P program. These programs often bring malware along.
Software
Do not use illegal methods (cracks, illegal serials, keygens, patches ...) to crack paying programs.
These programs are almost always accompanied with malware.
Windows Update
Keep Windows up-to-date. Malware often comes in through security holes. Let Windows update automatically.
Programs update.
Be sure all programs on your computer are up-to-date. Old versions of Java and Adobe Flash Player contains often security holes.

Windows Vista & 7: You can use the integrated firewall in Windows.
